Gnosall Lions Club

February can be a quiet time but not with Lions as we have been hard at work planning out things to do in the coming months, both locally and not so locally. In late November and December we carried out 14 different fund raising activities, community support events and also found time to also nd time to enjoy ourselves socially at the same time. Given that we only set up as a reformed Club in June, having been joined by our fellow Lions from Newport we have now started to reflect on what we have done, the successes, and those things not so successful planning for the coming months.

This has meant an interest in becoming a LION. We are not a secret group, with secret rituals or the rolling up of trouser leg joining ceremonies or anything like that. No,we are a group of local like minded people interested in helping others and raising funds and providing or donating to facilities both locally and perhaps further afield. As an International organisation we do support International Aid projects but this only accounts for up to approx 10% of monies raised, the remainder is for use in our locality, and we look at every request for assistance sent to us. We also have,it should be noted a social side as well, believing in enjoying ourselves as well, work hard, play hard,or as our motto says,ORDINARY PEOPLE- AMAZING THINGS.

We are always looking for new members, and look forward to welcoming anyone interested
in becoming a Lion. We meet on the 1st Monday of the month at Gnosall Fire Station at 7-30pm,why not come along and meet us or phone Pat on (01785)780032 or John on (01952) 273919 for more details.

What has really taken off are the monthly Afternoon Tea Dances, with numbers increasing every month with the January event being our most successful one to date. Our next one,a Valentines Day special is coming up on February 13th,and the March 13th dance having a St Patricks Day theme. The dances take place at Gnosall Memorial Hall, always on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 2-00pm,with unlimited Tea or Coffee, and refreshments all included for the amazing cost of £4-00 featuring the music of Dave &Doreen. We also at each dance have a Ra e for our Charity Fund.

Shortly we shall also be putting Easter Eggs into local businesses, both in Gnosall and in Newport. If you see one then please have a go as all the money we raise at any of our events goes to good causes, and every penny raised from you,the public goes to Charity, not to some overpaid CEO or in Admin costs,as all of our Admin costs are covered by ourselves.

Looking ahead on April 21st the ever popular Military Wives Choir (Sta ord) will be appearing in concert with David Bartley, and in May we shall be having our annual Golf Day at Aqualate Golf Club. More details will follow nearer the time. Please make sure that you put these dates into your diaries.

Finally if you think we can possibly help you or your organisation in some way then please call our Welfare Chairperson Elaine on (01785) 824386 for assistance
