Chapel News

We had already gone to press for February’s GPN page, before the Chapel news in January that we would like to share with you.

On the 14th January we were very fortunate to have Nicky Pennington lead our service and bring some young people from Berkswich Church along,to tell us all about the annual Quinta Weekend that happens every March, for youngsters age eleven upwards.

It was a very refreshing, different service. Wonderful to hear how our young people look forward to Quinta ,meeting up to learn, have fun and Praise our Lord.

Thank you Father God,for these youngsters are the future. Vickie

Sunday 21st January was the start of the ‘week of Prayer for Christian Unity’ It was also a first for us at Chapel as we had ‘Breakfast Church’ at 8.45am in the hall. We worshipped,we Prayed,we sang,we chatted,we coloured and we listened. Nathan and Hannah provided a lovely breakfast. The 10.30am ecumenical service was in St Lawrence Church, led by Rev. Kathryn and Nathan. A good coming together of local Christians. The day concluded with a Taize worship in Chapel led by Rev. Nathan and the St. Lawrence music group. Three very different ways to meet to worship our Lord. Three ways to learn, draw closer and progress in our journey of Faith. A good day!

Preparing for Easter

As we prepare this page for March,we are mindful of the start of Lent on 18th February and the Lent courses preparing us for Easter. On Palm Sunday the 25th March,we will be celebrating Jesus riding into the city on a donkey and remembering how the crowds cheered and waved their palm branches. How fickle they were and how they changed to wanting our Lord crucified on Good Friday. Human nature hasn’t changed,we all chop and change our minds, but it is important at this time to remember, whatever our beliefs or lack of,Easter isn’t just about fluffy chicks, rabbits and chocolate eggs. It’s about Jesus becoming our Sacrificial Lamb – to cleanse us from our wrong doings, which we are all guilty of and looking to Him for guidance on how to live. Then on April 1st. Easter Sunday,we celebrate Jesus, risen again to set His Spirit free into each of the hearts of those who will accept Him. Alleluia

A Prayer

Gracious God,when the way is easy, may we walk it joyfully.

When the way is hard, may we walk it faithfully.

And when the way seems unclear, may we trust the one who walks alongside us,

Jesus,our companion and friend. Amen.

Stephen Wigley,Wales Synod Chair

Sunday 11 February –WOW!

Wow,our circuit service was led by the Methodist Youth Brass Band,of which our own Rev Nathan is a member and he led us in an uplifting service themed “Glimpses of Glory”. We all assembled at King Edward ‘s High School for such a blessed time. To share with all these young Christian musicians was just wow!

Have a look at our website for photos.
