ANNUAL PARISH COUNCIL MEETING AND COUNCILLOR VACANCY

At the Parish Council’s Annual Meeting held on Monday 14th May,Council elected Gail Gregory as Chairman and Pat Alker as Vice Chairman. It was reported that Mike Deegan had resigned from his position as councillor and therefore a vacancy has arisen. For further information about this vacancy,please get in touch. 

Councillors expressed their thanks to Cllr Alker for her leadership of the Council over the past three years,seeing many successful projects come to fruition during that time. Cllr Deegaan was also thanked for his sterling work on many projects and Council were pleased to learn that he would remain on some committees and working groups as a non councillor to continue with some ongoing projects.

At the next meeting of each of the committees and working groups,a Chairman will be elected and projects for the year ahead will be prioritised.

TENNIS COURT,FUN DAY AND VILLAGE PICNIC

The construction of a new tennis court on The Acres is now well underway. The project has been funded from money received from Staffordshire County Council and will be a free facility for anyone to use as and when they wish to. The addition of outdoor gym equipment will be arranged in the very near future,options are currently being considered.

There will be an official opening of the tennis court as well as a family fun day and picnic event on The Acres in the summer. Look out for further details on notice boards and on the Council’s website. 

THE ANNUAL ASSEMBLY 

was held on 24th May at which Community Awards were presented to very worthy winners following nominations received from parishioners. In next month’s report,details of the winners with photographs will be included.

The Annual Report for the year ending 31st March 2018 was given out at the Annual Assembly. Copies can be obtained from the Parish Office and can be viewed on the Parish Council’s website.

CIVIC AMENITY VISIT (rubbish collection lorry)

The next visit to the Grosvenor Centre will be on 23rd June,at 10.15am -11.15am.

FUNFAIR

Once again,Jennings Funfair has been booked to coincide with children breaking up for school summer holidays. It will be held on the Village Green (off Brookhouse Road) from 20th – 22nd July

• The next Council meeting will be held on Monday 11th June at 7.30pm in the Brearley Room. All parishioners are welcome to attend Council meetings and can raise any matters during the public open forum

• Civic Amenity Visits 23rd June,20th October and 2nd February 2019

• Christmas Lights event 24th November 2018
