Freezing conditions, gale force winds and snowdrifts —what a welcome to Spring 2018!

Compared to many parts of the country,Gnosall escaped the worst of the ‘Beast from the East’ and ‘Storm Emma’. But the bitterly cold temperatures meant the best place to be was hunkered down close to a warm fire.

Thanks to farmers with their tractors and builders with their bucket-loaders,the lanes to Gnosall’s outlying homes and villages were mostly passable with care –though some drivers needed help after getting stuck as the snow piled high against the hedgerows. The thaw then brought minor flooding and a cluster of new potholes.
