SUSTRANS –linked cycle and walking routes

SUSTRANS –sustainable transport

“Join the movement”

Sustrans stands for Sustainable transport. There are cycle and walking routes of varying lengths linking different areas around the country. A map of these routes can be found at-

In Gnosall we are gifted with the National Cycle Route 55 which follows the route of the old railway.

The land the National Cycle Route is on is owned by Staffordshire County Council. Staffordshire County Council gave permission to the public to use this route. In the past few years we have witnessed the resurfacing of the National Cycle Route by Staffordshire County Council, which is now an excellent free facility. For those who have used this route you may have seen me litter picking and being involved in general maintenance along the National Cycle Route. Unfortunately,I am the only Sustrans volunteer ranger along this National Cycle Route from Stafford to the Staffordshire/ Shropshire border. There a few other people who help litter pick and clean this route which I thank them for their help. Therefore,it would be nice if we could gain more volunteer rangers to help me maintain this route. If you would like more information or details of how to become a ranger please see the contact details below.
